Five people died and another 28 were burnt in a fierce fire in a Covid hospital in the Malaviya Nagar area of Rajkot city, Gujarat on Thursday midnight.

Police Station Incharge N. Bhukan said that a sudden fire broke out on the first floor of the Udaya Shivanand Covid Center Hospital near Anand Bungalow Chowk. A total of 33 patients were admitted to the hospital. Five patients admitted to the ICU died in the fire, while 28 people suffered burns. Scorched people have been admitted to other hospitals. Identification of the dead Sanjay a. Rathod (57), Ram Singhbhai (65), Nitinbhai, Keshubhai La. Akbari (50) and Rashiklal Sha. Agrawat (69).

Fire Department personnel said that firefighters along with six fire engines reached the spot as soon as the fire was reported. Fire personnel managed to control the fire this morning after nearly six hours of hard work. The cause of the fire is being ascertained.
