Adani Group Plans 10 GW Overseas Hydroelectric Projects
The Adani Group has unveiled ambitious plans to develop 10 gigawatts (GW) of hydroelectric power projects in various countries as part of its broader global expansion in green energy. Target countries include Nepal, Bhutan, Kenya, Tanzania, the Philippines, and Vietnam, which have favorable topography and increasing demand for clean energy.
This overseas venture aligns with the Adani Group's strategy to achieve its long-term sustainability goals, particularly its commitment to becoming carbon-neutral by 2050. The group's green energy arm, Adani Green Energy, is driving the initiative, with an overarching target to reach 50 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
The group has already made progress by signing a 570 MW hydroelectric project agreement with Bhutan and is conducting feasibility studies in several other nations to identify further opportunities. This push into international hydroelectric projects comes as part of Adani's effort to diversify its energy portfolio and leverage the growing global shift toward renewable energy sou
