Strengthened CSR Policy of OIL Support States Combat COVID-19 Pandemic

The Oil India Limited (OIL), one of the noted PSUs of the country has  once again came forward to support fight against the Coronavirus Pandemic by providing a sum of Rs 5 crore, as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in Assam.

The OIL is the second-largest National Exploration & Production Company of India. It has supported to facilitate health infrastructure because of huge intensification of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic across the regions. The OIL has handed over entire amounts to the concerned officials on May 27, 2021. Whole sum also comprised the charitable contributions of a day salary by the employees of the company meant to assist the government in fighting against the pandemic. The OIL Chairman & Managing Director, Sushil Chandra Mishra, handed over this cheque to the incumbent CM of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a program organized by the OIL staffs at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati. Besides, Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister of Industries and Commerce, Ajanta Neog, Minister of Finance, Atul Bora, Minister of Agriculture and Veterinary, S K Barua, the Managing Director, NRL, Harish Madhav, and the OIL officials were also present during the occasion. Dr. Sarma, appreciated the positivity of OIL for its outstanding supports in their ways to combat Coronavirus pandemic. The Assam CM also showed his utmost gratitude to the OIL employees for their kind support and contributions from their salaries. “The OIL is not only supporting us by contributing us a huge amounts, but also it has created a kind of potential among us. They are of course contributing to make Assam a Coronavirus free zone”, the CM added. Dr Sarma said that he was much confident over a creative partnership of the OIL & the Government of Assam on various fronts that would assist in the progress of the entire region and the growth of petroleum industry in the state.

Meanwhile, the Assam CM reiterated that apart from ensuring a regular supply of energy to the entire nation, the OIL has also done huge supports to the various state governments in their fight against the COVID-19 and other pandemic. Recently, it invested about Rs 52 crore to strengthen health equipments and other facilities to the health departments during the second wave of the pandemic. Few of these may be summed up as below: Supply of 2 nos Iced Line Refrigerator to Govt of Assam for storing vaccines, Supply of 35 nos Deep Freezers to Govt of Assam for storing vaccines, Support to COVID Care Centre in Tinsukia District, Assam, Support in setting up of a 100 bedded COVID Care Centre at Duliajan, Dibrugarh District, Assam, Financial support in setting up of 300 bedded COVID hospital by DRDO at Sarusajai Stadium, Lokhora, Guwahati, Financial support for installation of PSA oxygen plant in Goalpara Aspirational District in Assam, Placement of 40 KL Liquid Nitrogen tank at Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, Assam, Support to Tengakhat Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital, Dibrugarh, Assam, Supply of 500 nos of Oxygen concentrators to Govt. of Assam, Supply of additional 1,000 nos Oxygen concentrators at various locations in the country.
