Southwest Monsoon has set in over Kerala on Thursday against the normal date of June 1.
 
Ministry of Earth Sciences, India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a release this afternoon said the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through latitude 10 degree North/Longitude 60 degree East, Latitude 10 degree North, Longitude 70 degree East, Kochi, Palayamkottai, Latitude 9 degree North, Longitude 80 degree East, 12 degree North/85 degree East, 14 degree North/90 degree East and 17 degree North/94 degree East.
 
The release said the Southwest monsoon is likely to advance into remaining parts of south Arabian Sea, some parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Kerala & Lakshadweep, some more parts of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, some parts of coastal & south interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and some more parts of south and central Bay of Bengal during the next 2 days.
