 In a macabre incident, six people were burnt by setting fire to their house after pouring petrol at Mugutakeri village in Virajpet taluk in Kodagu district on Saturday.
 
Police said that miscreant Yerava Boja has escaped. The deceased have been identified as Sithe (45), Baby (40) Prathana (6), Vishwas (6) Praksh (7) and Vishwa (7).
 
Three of the victims were burnt alive, while three others succumbed to burns in a Mysuru hospital.
 
Police said the accused locked the house of Manju and after removing the tiles on the roof poured petrol and set fire. The accused was alleged to be under the influence of alcohol.
 
Five people, in the age group of 6-7 have been admitted to Mysore hospital. Three succumbed to burns are yet to be identified.
 
Virajpet police visited the spot and registered a case. Police are in search of the accused.
