Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday criticised the continuance of the Parliament despite the growing threat of coronavirus.
In a post on social media, Mr Tharoor said that it is ironic that while on one hand MPs call on people to take necessary precautions against coronavirus, they "continue to congregate in Parliament on narrow benches".
Stressing that the MPs need to lead by example, he tweeted, ''Ironic that Members of Parliament, who must exhort their constituents to take necessary precautions against COVID-19, continue to congregate in Parliament, where they sit cheek-by-jowl on narrow benches. Far from “practice what you preach”, MPs’ msg is: ''do as I say, not as I do!''
It is notable that amid reports of an early adjournment of Parliament amid a coronavirus threat, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi has ruled out an early adjournment of the session and said it would continue till April 3 as per schedule.
