Sensex down by 1180 pts

The Indian Equity Market on Wednesday slid by 1180.58 pts to 28,287.91 till noon tracking weakness in Asian peers.
The Nifty of national stock exchange too dropped by 338 pts to 8259.35.
At the moment the Sensex was trading at 29,505.98 days high and low at 28,247.55 days low.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 8588 and 8,245.70, respectively.
In sectoral indices, banks were badly hit down by 5.25 pc followed by technology by 4.47 pc, IT by 4.48 pc, Telecom by 3.68 pc and energy by 3.72 pc.
In scrips, Kotak Bank tumbled down by 9.33 pc to Rs 1175.35, Tech Mahindra by 7.49 pc to Rs 522.65, M& M by 6.67 pc to Rs 266.50 and SBI by 4.80 pc to Rs 187.50.
While the scrips that supporting the market were Bajaj Auto by 0.98 pc to Rs 2044.65, Bajaj finance by 1.12 pc to Rs 2240.95.
Major banks share fell were Bank of Baroda, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and IndusInd bank.
Increasing coronavirus cases along with concern overgrowth due to large scale hut down of the business worried investors on Dalal Street.
Multiple research agencies have projected a sharp cut in the Indian growth rate also dampened the investors' sentiments.
