All
19 rebel Congress MLAs, including Sachin Pilot, have been issued show-cause
notices by the Speaker of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
The Speaker has sought their reply by July 17, 2020. The notice to the rebel Rajasthan MLAs that were not present in the CLP meet came after the Rajasthan government's chief whip Mahesh Joshi lodged a complaint with the Speaker. Rajasthan Congress in-charge, Avinash Pande, said, “Notice issued to all rebel MLAs for not attending Congress Legislative Party meetings. If they don't respond within 2 days, then it will be considered that they are withdrawing their membership from CLP”. The notice has been sent to the residences of all MLAs who skipped the Congress meet.
The Congress Party had on on Tuesday cracked
down on Sachin Pilot, stripping the dissident leader of the posts of
Rajasthan's deputy chief minister and the party’s state unit president and
sacking two loyalists from the state Cabinet. Ministers Vishvendra Singh and
Ramesh Meena were also removed from the Cabinet after a meeting of the Congress
Legislature Party, its second in the last two days. The meeting was billed as a
second chance for Pilot, who had turned down appeals from the party’s top
leadership including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to return to the fold.
