Accusing the farmers' organisations of violating the terms and conditions put in place for taking out a peaceful tractor rally on Republic Day, Delhi Police Commissioner S N Srivastava on Wednesday said that the perpetrators of violence will not be spared.
Addressing a press conference here, the Police Commissioner said 394 policemen were injured in the violence in various areas of the national capital on Tuesday, including some undergoing treatment in the ICU, while others were recuperating at various hospitals.
Police have registered more than 25 criminal cases so far, he added.
According to Mr Srivastava, ''We are using the facial recognition system and taking the help of CCTV and video footage to identify the accused. No culprit will be spared.''
He said the farmers' organisations were constantly persuaded to postpone the rally on Republic Day and for this, five rounds of talks were held with them.
The Delhi Police Commissioner said permission was granted, after agreeing and written assurances on certain terms and conditions for the rally, but the farmer organisations broke their promise.
He alleged that some farmer leaders even made provocative speeches and incited violence.
During the violence, 428 barricades, 30 police vehicles, six containers, four X-Ray machines, eight wire pillars and other properties were damaged, added Mr Srivastava.
