Mystery shrouds the death of advocate, Digvijay Trivedi, who was the junior to the lawyer, representing the deceased Sadhus, in the Palghar Mob lynching case. Trivedi, who was also a part of the legal team in the case, died in a road accident on May 13, 2020.

The occurrence took place at around 10: 30 am on Wednesday, when Digvijay Trivedi was on his way to Dahanu Court to join Advocate PN Ojha, the lawyer representing the Sadhus killed in the Palghar mob lynching incident.

Trivedi, who was accompanied by a woman, was driving the car along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway. Meanwhile, information related to the accident of the vehicle, Trivedi was driving, came into light. Although, the truth is yet to be uncovered by the authorities concerned, it is said that the accident was caused by crashing into the divider. Advocate Trivedi though died on the spot, the woman who was accompanying him in the car, suffered serious injuries.

Senior BJP leader, Sambit Patra, however raised questions on Trivedi’s death in road accident and said, “It is really very distressing and unbelievable that Trivedi died in a road accident. Is it a mere coincidence that those raising the Palghar case are either attacked by Congress workers or got FIRs registered against them? It all needs an extensive probe”.

Advocate PN Ojha, meanwhile, said that Trivedi was neither associated with VHP nor BJP. “An inspection or proper investigation by the concerned RTO or other authorities can only give a clear picture of the entire incident”, Ojha added.

He said, "I cannot say anything regarding the accident, whether there was any foul play or not. He was a junior lawyer and wanted to learn. So, I had allowed him to join me in this case. We will have to wait for the inspection report from the RTO to know the exact cause of the accident. As there was no direct onlooker of the incident, we cannot ascertain anything. Only the RTO inspection report or investigation by other authorities can bring forth the facts”.

A group of villagers in Palghar district of Maharashtra had on April 16, 2020 dragged out three men, including two Hindu Sadhus, from their car and beat them to death.  It all happened during the nationwide lockdown.
