Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Congress Rahul Gandhi and other leaders on Wednesday remembered the country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru on his 56th death anniversary and paid tributes to the country's visionary.
Taking to Twitter, Mr Modi paid tributes to the longest-serving PM of the nation. 'Tributes to our first PM, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji on his death anniversary,' he tweeted.
Remembering one of the founding fathers of Independent India and also his great grandfather, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also paid tributes to Pandit Nehru.
'Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji was a brave freedom fighter, the architect of modern India & our first PM. A visionary, he is immortalised in the world class institutions he inspired, that have stood the test of time,' the former Congress president tweeted.
'On his death anniversary, my tribute to this great son of India,' he added.
