In the last seven months, central government departments and central enterprises have paid more than Rs 21 thousand crore to small industries and businessmen.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday reviewed the status of payments to micro, small and medium industries and expressed satisfaction over its functioning. In May 2020, the Finance Minister has directed small industries to settle their payments within 45 days. Since then, more than 21 thousand crore rupees have been paid to the sparse industries due to continuous efforts and monitoring. This has been done by central departments and central undertakings.
According to the data, central departments and undertakings made the maximum purchases of Rs 5100 crore in October from small industries and Rs 4100 crore was paid. Due to continuous monitoring and efforts, the percentage of pending payments of small industries is steadily decreasing.
