Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) here on Saturday honoured the families of deceased donors on the sixth anniversary of its deceased (Cadaver) donor transplantation programme.
A Jipmer release here said, Dr Rakesh Aggarwal, Director along with the members of the deceased donor transplantation committee honoured the donor families and the police officers who coordinated with Jipmer in completing the necessary formalities for organ donation in each of the donor, the medical experts, nurses and other supporting staffs at the Institute who actively participated in the programme and contributed extra working hours and effort outside their duty hours without expecting any extra remuneration.
Dr. Sreejith Parameswaran, Nodal officer for the programme presented the annual report of the Jipmer Deceased Donor Transplantation Programme.
There was a public interactive session on Brain death and organ donation Chaired by Dr Mohan VK, Associate Professor of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care and at the end of the session, patients who underwent deceased donor kidney transplantation will share their experiences, the release said.
