The National Democratic Alliance’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) will contest 50 seats alone upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand. In a Tweet, the newly-appointed president of LJP, Chirag Paswan, cleared that the party will contest alone in the Jharkhand assembly elections 2019. The five-phased Jharkhand assembly polls have been scheduled from November 30, 2019 to December 20, 2019.
As
per the report, the last decision to contest Jharkhand assembly polls was to be taken by the state unit. The LJP Jharkhand state unit
has decided that the party would contest in
almost 50, out of all 83
assembly seats, of Jharkhand. The first list of
party candidates will be announced by this evening, Paswan said.
The fresh development is another jolt for the Bharatiya
Janata Party, which failed to form the government in Maharashtra as its ally
Shiv Sena remained adamant on its 50:50 formula demand.
Chirag Paswan made it clear that the party is not
satisfied with the BJP as it failed to respond to its demand for six seats,
reported The Hindu.
Paswan said he wanted the party to contest with the BJP
in the upcoming elections but added that the BJP did not respond to the letter
which he wrote to Amit Shah, JP Nadda and Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar
Das.
LJP said it had demanded only six seats where the BJP had
performed badly in previous elections.
Paswan even told that his party was ready to sacrifice
some seats but he still did not get any response from ally BJP.
