India recorded 2.47 lakh new cases on Thursday, taking the total tally of Covid-19 cases to 3,63,17,927, according to the Healthy Ministry.
This is a 27 per cent jump from Wednesday when the country reported 1,94,720 cases.
A total 380 deaths have been reported in the country, taking the total count to 4,85,035.
The active caseload currently stands at 11,17,531 while 84,825 people have recovered taking the total numbers of recoveries to 3,47,15,361.
The active cases comprise 3.08 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 95.59 per cent.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 13.11 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 10.80 per cent.
Meanwhile, India's Omicron tally on Thursday reached 5,488, of which, 2162 have either recovered or have been discharged.
Maharashtra topped the count with 1,367 cases, followed by Rajasthan (792), Delhi ( 549).
On Wednesday Delhi logged 27,561 fresh Covid cases, which is a 29 per cent rise over the cases since Tuesday and the most number of cases in a day since April.
The positivity rate has touched 26 per cent, which is the highest in seven months.
On April 20 last year, the city reported 28,395 cases.
The city also reported 40 Covid deaths, which is the most since June 10, when it reported 44 deaths.
“India has so far administered 154.61 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive” Ministry data said.
More than 157.36 crores vaccine doses were provided to States/UTs so far.
Over 15.75 crores balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting with chief ministers over the Covid-19 situation on Thursday, as the number of infections sees a surge in the country.
