India's COVID-19 tally surpassed the three lakh-mark, with 11,458 fresh cases reported on Saturday, highest single-day spike.
Besides, the country also reported a sharp spike in COVID-related deaths as 386 more people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths to 8,884.
Now, the total confirmed cases stand at 308993 as the situation continues to be grim. India has been the fourth worst-hit country in the world after the US, Brazil and Russia.
In a positive development, the number of pandemic survivors in the country continued to rise. A total of 7134 patients have also been recovered since Friday, the government data revealed.
According to Health Ministry update, cured and discharged cases at present stand at 154329.
Now, the country has 145779 active cases which is less than cured and discharged cases.
Maharashtra has been the most affected state in the country with 101141 total cases, followed by Gujarat (22527).
