India’s total active caseload stood at 4,28,644 on Wednesday, the lowest since July 23, with total active cases of 4,26,167 reflecting a sustained decrease in the number of active cases.
As much as 77.25 per cent of the new cases were from 10 states and UTs led by Kerala which reported 5,375 cases followed by Maharashtra with 4,930 new cases.
Altogether 501 case fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours, an official release here said. Of these deaths, 10 states/UTs accounted for a whopping 79.84 per cent of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties at 95, followed by Delhi and West Bengal with 86 and 52 daily deaths, respectively.
The country's present active caseload consists of just 4.51 per cent of India’s total positive cases.
The daily new cases added to the country’s Covid numbers have been around 30K since the past three days. The number of daily new cases in the last 24 hours is 36,604 and 43,062 cases discharged, surpassing the daily new cases since the past five days.
The difference in new recoveries outnumbering new cases has also improved the recovery rate to 94.03 per cent today.
There were 89,32,647 recovered cases and the gap between recovered and active cases, that is steadily increasing, stood at 85,04,003.
A huge 78.35 per cent of the new recovered cases were concentrated in 10 states/UTs. Maharashtra has reported the maximum single day recoveries with 6,290 newly recovered cases, Kerala recorded 6,151 recoveries and Delhi 5,036.
