India’s active Covid caseload further contracts to 4.35 lakh

India’s active Covid-19 cases on Tuesday stood at 4,35,603, much below the 5-lakh mark resulting in the further shrinkage of the share of active cases in the total positive cases to 4.60 per cent.

According to an official release here, 10 states/UTs accounted for 81.12 per cent of the 482 case fatalities reported in the past 24 hours. A total of 31,118 new cases were added to the national tally while 41,985 cases recovered in the past 24 hours.

Daily recoveries exceeded new cases ensuring a net decline of 11,349 cases in the total active cases in past 24 hours.

While the states of Kerala, Delhi, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh witnessed a dip in the active caseload, others such as Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Assam and Goa reported an addition to their caseload.

Recovered cases totalled 88,89,585 which translates to a recovery rate of 93.94 per cent. The gap between recovered and active cases stood at 84,53,982.

More than 75 per cent (76.82 per cent) of the new recovered cases are concentrated in 10 states/UTs.

Kerala reported the maximum single day recoveries with 6,055 recoveries followed by Delhi with 5,824 new recoveries.

A huge 77.79 per cent of the new cases were concentrated in 10 states and UTs.

Maharashtra reported the maximum daily new cases of 3,837, Delhi recorded 3,726 new cases while Kerala reported 3,382 new cases on Monday.

Of the 482 case deaths reported in the past 24 hours, 22.4 per cent of them were reported from Delhi -- 108 deaths. Maharashtra and West Bengal followed with 80 and 48 new deaths, respectively.
