Former Indian wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel, who made Gujarat the first Ranji champion under his captaincy, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Wednesday, concluding his 18-year career. done. Parthiv wrote, "Today I am announcing to retire from all formats of cricket and with this my 18 year long career is coming to an end. I want to express my gratitude to many people. The BCCI expressed great confidence in me and the 17-year-old got a chance to play for Team India.
Parthiv, who represented India as the youngest Test wicket-keeper in his post, thanked current BCCI President Saurabh Ganguly in his post. Patel was born under the captaincy of Ganguly. Parthiv, 35, wrote, "I am especially grateful to Dada. He was my first captain. He trusted me a lot. It was a privilege for me to play with him. "BCCI President Ganguly, Secretary Jai Shah and Treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal have wished Parthiv for the future.
Parthiv made his Test debut against England at Nottingham in 2002 at the age of 17 and 152 days and became the youngest wicket-keeper to make his Test debut. He rose to the role of the second wicketkeeper after the rise of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in India. His last Test was in Johannesburg in January 2018 against South Africa which India won. A year later he was part of India's Test team winning 2–1 against Australia but did not play a match in that series.
