New Delhi, October 14, 2024 – The Election Commission of India (EC) has officially announced the poll dates for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections. The elections will be held in five phases, starting on November 25, 2024, with the final phase of voting scheduled for December 20, 2024.
According to the EC, the counting of votes will take place on December 23, 2024, and the results will be declared on the same day. The election will see 81 constituencies across the state participate in selecting members for the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, while addressing the media, assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections. He added that the Model Code of Conduct is now in effect in the state, and strict monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to prevent any electoral malpractices.
The upcoming elections are crucial for Jharkhand, with the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition government, headed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, facing stiff competition from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other regional parties.
The EC has also announced several new initiatives to enhance voter participation, including increased polling booths in remote areas, special facilities for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, and enhanced security measures to ensure peaceful polling.
As the political temperature rises in Jharkhand, all major parties are gearing up for what promises to be an intense electoral battle in the state.
