 India recorded 42,766 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 3,07,95,716, while the death toll soared to 4,07,145 with 1,206 more fatalities, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.

 

The active cases declined by 3,694 to stand at 4,55,033, which constitutes 1.48 per cent of the total cases.

 

The past 24 hours saw 45,254 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,99,33,538, which is 97.20 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.32 per cent.

 

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said 42,90,41,970 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus, of which 19,55,225 tests were carried out on Friday.

 

The total number of vaccine doses administered so far has reached 37,21,96,268 under the nationwide vaccination drive, with 30,55,802 people being inoculated in the past 24 hours.
