The national capital on Wednesday registered a record breaking single-day spike of 8,593 fresh COVID infections during the past 24 hours, the state health bulletin said here.


The city's overall case tally has now reached 4,59,975, while the fatality count has now mounted to 7,228,


after 85 more people lost their lives to the highly contagious virus in the same period.


Active case-load on the city also increased , and now the city is home to 42,629 active cases.


Meanwhile, 7,264 patients were cured since Tuesday, taking the total number of COVID survivors across the city till date to 4,10,118.


Patients under home isolation also witnessed a spike and presently stand at 24,435 while the containment zones across the city now are 4,016 as on Wednesday.


Fatality rate due to the pandemic based on past ten days data is 0.99 per cent, the bulletin added.
