The three Mayors of the Delhi's Municipal Corporations on Thursday sat on an indefinite hunger strike outside the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence demanding pending arrears of Rs 13,000 crore from the Delhi Government towards the MCD.

Jai Prakash from North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Anamika Mithilesh Singh from SDMC, EDMC Mayor Nirmal Jain have been protesting outside the CM's residence since December 7 despite the cold weather.

The announcement was made by Mr Prakash, North Delhi Municipal Corporation today.

In October also, the three mayors had staged a protest outside CM's residence demanding the arrears.

Due to lack of funds and wages not being given, the employees have gone on strike several times.

Mayors have accused the Delhi's AAP government of not releasing the pending money which has resulted in deterioration of the financial condition of the municipal corporations.

Mr Prakash charged the Delhi Government with blocking the corporation workers' money, who have been tirelessly involved in the sanitation works in the COVID times.
