Chinese Troops Deny Moving Back from Gogra, Pangong Areas

Couple
of days after the Indian military leaders of agreed with their Chinese
counterparts on a mutual phased de-escalation along the Line of Actual Control
(LAC) in eastern Ladakh, the later refused to pull back from the strategically
important sites including Gogra Post and Pangong Tso lake area.
“The Chinese forces are not moving away
from the two key significant sites like: Gogra Post and Pngong Tso. “There is a
total stalemate at heights in the Pangong Tso area and that Chinese pullback
has also been stalled at Gogra Post. It is learnt that China has now revived
its claims over these areas”, said sources.
China has signaled a pullback in the Hot
Springs area that would resume soon. Both of the countries were embroiled in a
massive standoff at various points along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern
Ladakh since early May. These sides have had several rounds of military and
diplomatic talks but the standoff continues. Rampant tensions between the two
sides peaked on June 15 when 20 Indian soldiers, including a Colonel -rank
officer, were killed in a violent faceoff with Chinese troops in Galwan Valley.
While China also suffered casualties, it is yet to disclose its details.
The standoffs between the two nations
along the LAC have occurred in the past. Noticeably, there has been a massive
standoff between Indian and Chinese troops in the Pangong Tso Lake areas over
the past two months.
