Arunachal reports 32 new COVID cases

Maintaining its ‘constant’ rising trend, Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday recorded 32 more COVID-19 positive cases that mounted its overall case tally to 55,407 and the active caseload to 75, a senior health official said.

Conversely, two individuals have recuperated from the disease in the period that took the total number of recovered cases to 55,050, he said.

Of the fresh infections, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest number of cases at 16, followed by Lohit (six). Three cases each came from Namsai and West Kameng, while East Siang detected two cases and Changlang and West Siang found one each.

Nineteen of the total cases turned out to be asymptomatic and 13 symptomatic, the official said, adding that the day’s positivity rate was 6.44 per cent while it was 5.01 per cent on Wednesday.

Of the freshly infected, nine are from the central paramilitary forces, including seven ITBP jawans and one each CRPF and SSB personnel. The infected also included five NDRF and one GREF personnel and a healthcare worker, he said.

The state’s COVID recovery rate further trimmed down 99.35 per cent from yesterday’s 99.41 per cent, while the overall case positivity rate rose to 0.13 from yesterday’s 0.08 per cent. The state has registered 282 COVID-19 casualties to date. The fatality rate stands at 0.51 per cent.

Meanwhile, the state saw a total of 5984 eligible people taking the COVID-19 vaccine jabs in the last 24 hours, including 4330 teenagers who received the first dose of Covaxin vaccine, the official said.
