Minister, Rajnath Singh, has on May 27, 2021 launched ‘Services e-Health
Assistance & Tele-consultation (SeHAT) OPD portal through video
conferencing.
It
would offer tele-medicine services to the incumbent Armed Forces, veterans and
their families. The beneficiaries will have register on the given website
https://sehatopd.in/. The portal SeHAT OPD is the advanced safety features. Its
trial version was made active in August last year.
“The Department of Military Affairs
(DMA), Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), Integrated Defense Staff (IDS),
Centre for Development of Artificial Computing (C-DAC) Mohali and other
organizations were basically engaged in developing the portal”, Singh said. The
Defense Minister also said that it had always been their endeavor to provide
better, faster and transparent facilities to the countrymen. While describing
the portal, the Minister said, the SeHAT OPD portal is a big paradigm of
innovation, mainly when the entire world is facing multiple crisis due to the
spread of Coronavirus pandemic. “The portal will enable the department control
growing responsibilities of the health centers. Besides the patients would be
able to receive easy and efficient prescription without any contact and
consultation”, He added.
Singh also appealed the AFMS to think
over to engage expert doctors in the portal so that the special treatment and
expert advice could be given to the needy army personnel. It would also offer
extra services and expected facilities to the Armed Forces. “In order to get
noted improvement and expected services, we often need feedback from the
beneficiaries”, the Defense Minister stated saying the Defense Research and
Development Organization and the Armed Forces have been playing an important
role in our fight the second wave of the COVID-19. Singh further appreciated
the roles of the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy for carrying oxygen and other
important medical devices wherever needed. The Chief of Defense Staff, Bipin
Rawat, Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Karambir Singh, and Chief of Army Staff,
General M M Naravane were among others who were present during the occasion.
