Two officers died while 13 employees admitted in hospital in serious condition from gas leakage due to a technical fault in the ammonia gas pipeline at the urea plant of Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) at Phulpur in Prayagraj district in Uttar Pradesh. Has been admitted to the hospital.
According to official sources, there was a gas leak in the ammonia gas pipe at IFFCO's urea plant at Phulpur at around 1100 on Tuesday night, causing panic and 15 employees got stuck there and started falling unconscious. He said that Assistant Manager (Urea) VP Singh and Assistant Manager (Offsite) Abhyanandan Kumar, who were present there, tried to stop the gas leak but both the officers also stunned due to gas and got severely scorched.
He said that police and administration officials rushed to the spot as soon as the information was received and all the 15 employees affected by the gas were sent to the hospital but both the officials could not be saved. He said that 13 people are currently being treated in the hospital. They reported that the gas leak was stopped at night. The incident is being investigated.
