15 children were killed and 20 others injured in a horrific explosion in the eastern province of Ghazni in Afghanistan. Officials and police sources said on Saturday that the cause of the horrific explosion in Gillan district of Ghazni on Friday has not yet been ascertained.
Some eyewitnesses reported that the children were possibly trying to sell weapons to a vendor when it exploded. Taliban militants have also said that the blast happened accidentally.
The blast occurred in a village close to a house where the Quran recitation ceremony was going on.
Waheedulla Jumazada, a spokesman for the Ghazni provincial governor, said a man was driving a motorized rickshaw and children surrounded him as soon as he entered his village. At the same time, it exploded.
The spokesman feared that the death toll may increase.
Significantly, violence continues in the country despite talks between the Afghan authorities and the Taliban in Doha, Qatar's capital.
